隨著行動網路的普及,即時通訊APP的蓬勃發展,台灣許多公司把行動通訊軟體作為員工工作上溝通的工具。行動通訊軟體的使用,被認為可以提高員工的工作效率;但遇到一個工作狂老闆時,行動通訊軟體有可能成為勞工的「催命符」。本研究將從人格特質、工作價值觀和行動通訊軟體的使用等構面來探討對工作滿意度的影響。
本研究調查了477位來自各行各業的工作者,利用AMOS結構方程式來分析研究的結果。結果顯示工作價值觀會隨著經濟環境的變化而改變;當經濟情況不好的時候,人們會更加在意外在的工作價值觀。此外,本研究也證實人格特質和工作價值觀會直接和間接地影響工作滿意度。最後,在工作上使用行動通訊軟體確實有助於人們溝通聯繫和建立人際關係;使用行動通訊軟體的工作者有較高的工作滿意度。
本研究的獨創性價值在於使用本國學者所編製的工作滿意度量表,驗證了該量表的可行性,而在工作中適當的使用行動通訊軟體對員工是有正面的影響;以及嚴謹性對行動通訊軟體的使用有負向的影響。
Abstract
Purpose
The main purpose of this study is to investigate the key factors in job satisfaction. In the past, scholars had found that personal work values and personality traits can influence job satisfaction. However, along with the change of economic environment, people’s work value might be varied due to the change of external environment. The study respectively analyzes the effect of internal and external environment towards job satisfaction. In order to find out the influence of personality traits and work value on job satisfaction clearly, this study also divides the job satisfaction into six categories. Since the mobile instant messaging has been widely applied in today’s working world, this study also discusses the effects of mobile instant messaging on job satisfaction.
Design/Methodology/Approach
The study surveyed 477 employees in various types of profession. The structural equation modeling is used to analyze the results.
Findings
The findings of this study reflects that work values will change as the economic situation. When the economy is in downturn, people will focus more on external work value. This study also proves that personality traits and work values will affect the job satisfaction directly and indirectly. In addition, the study finds that mobile instant messaging can greatly facilitate communications and help establish good interpersonal relationships in workplace. The workers who use the mobile messaging APP can earn higher job satisfaction.
Implications
Organizations need to hire the worker who has better personality traits and work values. In bad economic environments, organizations are supposed to create a favorable working environment in order to make the employees work with pleasure. The results of the study reveal that good interpersonal relationships can improve job satisfaction.
Originality/Value
This study proves the feasibility of the job satisfaction survey made by Taiwan scholars. And proper use of mobile instant messaging has a positive impact on the employees. Furthermore, conscientiousness is negatively related to mobile instant messaging use.
