高爾夫球頭產業已是一個全球市場成熟、成長趨緩的產業，又因近年來受景氣影響、中國勞工成本持續高漲、鈦金屬價格高漲、日趨嚴格的環保法規等因素，使得球頭產業受到嚴峻的挑戰。球頭的製程從開模到成品，會將部分低技術的加工程序外包給供應商，然而在每個球頭必經的加工過程，必須準確掌握其進度及達交效率，才能確保客戶訂單之交期準時並提升反應速度，否則可能造成訂單延誤而產生違約或賠償等問題。
針對外包製程的管理，目前所知的資訊系統大多沒有較完善的支援，當球頭送出廠給外包廠商後，即中斷了資訊，直到供應商將貨物送回，才會銜接驗收資訊，與供應商之間的資訊不透明。
因此本研究運用設計科學研究法，針對外包資訊不透明、無法明確掌握交期之問題，透過企業流程再造 (Business Process Reengineering)的步驟進行細部探討並發展新的外包流程，再使用模式驅動結構 (Model Driven Architecture)設計支援新流程的資訊系統，提供個案公司及外包廠商在整個外包過程中掌握關鍵資訊。

The golf club head industry has been a mature industry with slow growth globally. Lately, the industry has also faced tough challenges due to economic downturn, China’s rising labor costs, steep price increase of titanium, increasingly stringent regulations for environmental protection, and other factors. Throughout the manufacturing process of club heads from die sinking to finished products, some low-technology processing steps tend to be outsourced to vendors. However, for each processing step that club heads have to undergo, monitoring the progress and delivery effectiveness is critical to ensure timely delivery of customer order and to enhance the response speed. Otherwise, problems such as contract breach or reparation may occur due to order delays.
Most information systems today fail to provide sound support to manage outsourced manufacturing processes. The information flow fails once club heads are sent to the outsourcing vendors, and the flow does not resume until the goods are returned for inspection and acceptance. Therefore, the information flow between the company and vendors is opaque.
Therefore, this study employed the Design Science Research Methodology to address the opaqueness of the outsourcing information and the company’s inability to monitor the delivery schedule and developed new outsourcing processes based on in-depth discussion following the steps of business process reengineering. An information system was then designed based on the Model-Driven Architecture, which supports the new process flow to allow the case company and its outsourcing vendors to monitor key information throughout the outsourcing process.
