貿易之所以發生是因為透過貿易使兩國在經濟上能夠受益。
國際貿易理論的雛形，
最早由古典學派創立和發展，
他們所發展的國際貿易理論大都集中注意於貿易利得(gains from trade)的分析，
以顯示自由的國際貿易將有利於進行貿易的所有國家。
其中在亞當•史密斯的絕對利益理論之後所發展的比較利益理論之李嘉圖模型，
是以貿易條件(terms of trade, TOT)
說明貿易利得的分配。即貿易發生後，貿易利得的分配是由貿易條件決定的。
然而，本模型無法說明貿易條件如何決定。

新興古典經濟以不同的結構：自給自足結構、完全分工結構、局部分工結構等來闡明貿易利得的歸屬及分配狀況；
亦即當兩國貿易時，若完全分工為全面均衡，
兩國之貿易品皆完全專業化，兩國皆獲得貿易利得；若局部分工為全面均衡時，
一國貿易品完全專業化，另一國貿易品局部專業化，則貿易利得由貿易品完全專業化國家享有，
局部專業化國家則無。

在新興古典框架中的李嘉圖模型，貿易後所決定的貿易條件是透過價格決定的，
沒有人可以選擇這個價格，所以，也沒有國家的自利行為之間的直接交互作用，
只是對非人格市場做出反應。而在賽局中，每人的最適選擇依賴於他人的抉擇，
價格的決定是由雙方議價的直接交互作用所決定的。
本文使用賽局的那許(Nash)議價模型對新興古典經濟框架的李嘉圖模型中的局部分工(一)結構與局部分工(二)結構進行分析，
探討兩個國家在貿易利得上較公平分配與否。

藉由模型的假設與推論，發現：

局部分工(一)結構與局部分工(二)結構的模型中，
因貿易後未分享到絲毫貿易利得之局部分工模式國家，
透過雙邊議價確實可以改善其貿易條件。
亦即議價使得兩個國家的進出口之兩種產品在貿易後的相對價格改變，
貿易條件趨於有利己方，分享貿易後所創造的利得。
這是因為那許積實際上為各方的期望淨支付，
將此積最大化的那許均衡是由各國自利考慮的選擇與對方參與貿易的意願所決定；
獨享貿易利得的國家為了使貿易利得可實現的機率足夠大，從自利的動機考量，
也會讓對方得到足夠的好處，即獲得足夠的貿易利得，這種自利行為的結果，會看是將社會福利函數最大化。
因此，我們可以說國與國之間的貿易談判是可以保證貿易利得的較公平分配。

此外，本文亦分析議價的動態過程，由本文第四章的推導得知，
議價的動態過程與貼現因子delta(即耐心或是時間成本)、
期限(T)及出價的先後順序有關。
