新加坡身為一個城市國家，雖受到其狹小的規模及貧乏的自然資源所限制，
仍然高度的發展為東南亞的金融中心，同時在國際關係展現出高度自主且積極、
務實的特性。
冷戰之後，中國大陸已成為亞太區域國際政治的重要行為者之一。本研究使
用國際政治經濟學的觀點，探討自新加坡獨立以來到 2012 年間，與中國大陸的
政治經濟關係如何發展，同時新加坡的外交特質如何影響與中國的雙邊關係。從
各個年代間區域國際局勢，如何影響兩國的政治經濟關係；雙邊在各個時期中政
府領導人的互動；到中國與新加坡經濟關係，包含貿易、投資、經濟合作項目、
與自由貿易區的建立。
結論認為，新加坡在經濟關係上與中國保持高度的互賴，但政治關係上保持
獨立自主。而新加坡與中國雙邊關係的發展，符合新加坡基於自身侷限性前提的
利益導向外交政策。

Singapore is limited by its territory size and scarcity of natural resources.
However, the city state has become a highly developed economy and Southeast Asia’s
financial center after its independence. It is known by its pro-active characteristic in
foreign relations as well.
In the post-cold war era, China has become one of major actor in Asia Pacific
region. This research argues that how Singapore’s political economy relation with
China forms after Singapore’s independence to 2012 through the worldview of
International political economy (IPE). From the effects of international structural,
interaction of government leaders, to development of economy relations, including
trade, foreign investment, economic cooperation, and establishment of free trade
agreement.
The economy relations between Singapore and China is deeply engaged and
interdependent. While Singapore remain its autonomy and balancing the stakes in
China with other actors. Also, the development of mutual relations is shaped by
Singapore’s interest oriented strategy based on its own limitations.
