近幾年台灣大專院校中,來自俄羅斯的國際學生人數一直在增加。這些畢業生和大學生可能會遇到一系列障礙,例如適應壓力,排斥感和適應困難。現有的研究調查文獻中,鮮少有資料反應大學校園處於農村,城市或兩者的位置設置和生活方式是否會影響俄羅斯國際學生的的適應策略。這項研究旨在研究學術環境如何影響這些學生,並探討居住在台灣的俄羅斯國際學生在文化適應和社交場合中的語言語言選擇方面的應對策略。本數據於2021年1月收集,共16名分別就讀於農村和城市地區兩所不同大學的全日制俄羅斯國際學生。觀察的基礎來自於一個半結構化的問卷,在該問卷中,使用了Berry(1997,2005)所建立的的文化策略框架,以及Ward的方法來檢驗文化信息評估和分析的兩個維度。在這些案例中,我們可以觀察到就讀於有許多國際學生的城市地區大學,並且主修系所課程為全中文上課的俄羅斯學生有較大的機會獲得同化的文化適應策略。這可以解釋為,學生並非與當地文化隔絕卻同時能擁有舒適的調整空間,可以從中輕鬆地融入台灣當地文化。
綜上所述,應建議大專院校與獎學金組織應提供更好的溝通管道促進當地學生與國際學生交流,並將中文列為國際學生必修課程。另外我們也可以總結出國際學生應被建議為來台留學提前準備,以便能達成學業上的自我要求,同時沈浸於當地文化並獲得寶貴的知識經驗以利未來發展。
Abstract
In recent years, the number of native Russian speaking students in Taiwan has been increasing. These graduates and undergraduates may encounter a series of obstacles to adapt. Little research has been done to investigate whether rural, urban, or both locational settings of university campuses and lifestyles affect their adaptation strategies. This study intends to research how the academic environment affects these students and aims to look at the acculturation and coping strategies in adaptation and choice of language in social settings among international students from Russia residing in Taiwan. Data was collected in January 2021 from sixteen full-time Russian students from two different universities in rural and urban locational settings. The basis of the research observation is derived from a semi-structured questionnaire, in which the established acculturation strategies framework of Berry (1997, 2005) was used, as well as Ward’s approach to examining the two dimensions of acculturation approach for information assessment and analysis. Cases of students enrolled in local prevailing Taiwanese programs can be observed to have a greater chance of getting an integration acculturation strategy. These local Taiwanese programs are part of universities that are located in urban areas and have a high number of international students. It can be explained that students are not isolated from the local culture, and at the same time, they have a comfortable space from which they can smoothly dive into the local Taiwanese culture. In conclusion, it is suggested that universities and scholarship organizations should provide means for better communication between local and international students, and required Chinese courses for international students. It is also concluded that international students are advised to prepare to achieve their goal of studying in Taiwan and thoroughly submerge themselves in a different culture to acquire valuable knowledge for potential use.
