本篇碩士論文將由兩部分組成──石黑一雄之英文小說《別讓我走》選譯與其評析。由於本篇論文圍繞在主題「交換」內，我亦選譯特定章節。在石黑一雄之《別讓我走》當中，第三頁至四十八頁(第一章至第四章)描述海爾森學校之基本背景以及其校園內之微妙規則。再者，第一百一十五頁至一百四十五頁(第十章至第十二章)強調這些複製人如何理解他們對於自己之奉獻與人類不對等之回饋。最後，第兩百七十六頁至兩百八十八頁(第二十三章)揭示了複製人之真正的身體上的疼痛與生命受到人類委婉語氣的交換。我意於翻譯所有以上提到之頁數以求儘可能闡釋《別讓我走》之要意。

This master thesis is composed of dual parts──a translation of selected chapters of Kazuo Ishiguro’s Never Let Me Go and its introduction. Those selected chapters are around the theme of “exchange.” In Kazuo Ishiguro’s Never Let Me Go, pages three to forty-eight (chapter one to chapter four) denote basic background information upon Hailsham the school and its subtle rules in the campus. Further, pages one hundred and fifteen to pages one hundred and forty-five (chapter ten to chapter twelve) emphasize on how the clones understand the fact that their contributions to humans and humans’ complement to their efforts are asymmetrical. Finally, pages two hundred and seventy-six to two hundred and eighty-eight (chapter twenty-three) reveal how the clones’ actual physical pain and whole lives are exchanged with humans’ euphemism. I would like to translate all these above-mentioned one hundred and sixty-four pages to possibly understand this work’s essential notions.
