Abstract
The advances of CT do improve work efficiency and change working environments. However, Taiwanese workers often receive work assignments from their managers via electronic communication software (e.g., LINE and What’s app) during non-working hours. Therefore, this study examines the impact of CTs use on WLB. According to Recovery model and Boundary theory (Geurt & Sonnentag, 2006; Clark, 2000), the research approach focused on detrimental effects that will be caused on employees (e.g., negative moods and job stress). In this study, the questionnaire conducted a cross-sectional design. In total, 193 employees from various organizations in Taiwan completed the questionnaire. Its findings suggest that using work-related CT negatively influence personal life, overtime and job stress. Otherwise, a proper personal life positively affect better moods at job. However, the result of the study pointed out that work-related CT is not significantly related to work performance. Apparently, there is no doubt that the advances of CT accompany pros and cons. In addition, the findings suggested that a proper WLB will benefit both employers and employees once employees could keep balance between work and private domains. Likewise, employers would not only have a better relationships with own workers but also improve effectiveness. Also, departments of HR could design HR practices to deal with those issues.
