多明尼克．阿爾簡多(Dominick Argento, 1927-)是美國當代重要聲樂作曲家。他的第三組聯篇歌曲《六首伊莉莎白時期歌曲》(Six Elizabethan Songs)，是一九五七年阿爾簡多接受男高音好友迪．威基里歐(Nicholas Di Virgilio)的委託，寫給男高音或女高音搭配鋼琴的六首歌曲。歌詞選自英國伊莉莎白時期五位詩人的作品，並於一九六二年改編為長笛、雙簧管、小提琴、大提琴與大鍵琴的巴洛克室內樂版本。
本文主要分成五個部份來論述：前言、多明尼克．阿爾簡多生平簡介與聲樂作品、《六首伊莉莎白時期歌曲》之詩人簡介、《六首伊莉莎白時期歌曲》之詩與作品分析、和結語。筆者從音樂、詩詞和劇本的分析，探討作曲家阿爾簡多創作上的音樂想法與創作技巧，並提供歌曲的詮釋建議，期望歌者在閱讀這篇報告後，提升其演唱上的深度與內涵。

Dominick Argento (1927-) is an America’s most distinguished contemporary vocal composer. Six Elizabethan Songs is his third vocal work. In 1957, Argento was commissioned to compose a song cycle which has six songs for tenor or soprano and piano by a tenor Nicholas Di Virgilio. The lyrics are drawn from five poets of the Elizabethan rich period. And this song cycle was rearranged for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and harpsichord of Baroque chamber music in 1962.
This study consists of five parts: Foreword, composer Dominick Argento’s life and his art song, the biography about five poets and their works, analysis and interpretations of the six lyrics and songs of Six Elizabethan Songs, and the conclusion. This is a research about Argento’s musical ideas and composition technique of this song cycle by analyzing the music, poetry and drama, as well as providing useful ideas for the interpretation. The expectation of the study is assisting singers reinforcing profundity in performance.
