《胡桃鉗》舞台設計創作論述主要闡述筆者重新詮釋經典舞劇舞台設計之過程，將《胡桃鉗》舞劇在沒有「聖誕節」為背景的前提之下做創作。此舞台設計以舞劇《胡桃鉗》為舞台設計對象，以國家戲劇院為選定劇場，此劇共分為二幕四景。因《胡桃鉗》故事情節充滿夢幻與想像空間，與夢的情境相似，故以夢的理論與夢的視覺畫面為材料作為舞台設計上的創作。

　　本創作論述首先闡釋創作動機與自身創作背景，於創作動機中釋出問號：「如果《胡桃鉗》不發生在聖誕節？」，並以此問號作為創作發想來源。其次為《胡桃鉗》舞劇案例分析，經由過往演出形式之比較，發展此次設計概念。再者闡述創作理念，以當今現實社會結合經典劇碼為主，輔以夢理論中的原型、潛意識、補償作用、象徵意涵等概念分析原著文本「胡桃鉗與老鼠王」，作為設計理念之基礎，呈現舞台設計理念。

　　本舞台設計作品範圍涵蓋舞台設計圖、舞台模型、燈光模擬圖與舞台技術圖，希望能以全新的概念詮釋經典舞碼，並不失《胡桃鉗》舞劇精隨，創造出與音樂互相融合的舞台氛圍。

《The Nutcracker》stage design thesis project seeks to research and elaborate on the process of building the new interpretation of a classical dance drama; a stage design of 《The Nutcracker》without the background of Christmas.《The Nutcracker》contains a total of two acts and four scenes. The Taiwan National Theater will be used as the special setting of the design. Due to the imaginative nature of《The Nutcracker》is similar to a dream, the concept of dream theory will be set as the center of the stage design and the scenes of dreams will be used.

　　The first step of the design thesis is to address the design concept and background, then bring up an idea：“What if 《The Nutcracker》don't happen in Christmas？”Next, the designer will building up the design concept through analyzing the text. At last, the design will integrate the setting of 《The Nutcracker》to the present age. Dream theories such as: Subconscious, Compensation, Symbols and Archetypes will be examined. Through the production process, the dream theories will then be experimented in aesthetic presentations of stage design.

　　The final art work will include stage design drawings, technical drawings and digital three dimensional models with scenic lighting. The stage piece seeks to interpret the classic anew without losing the essence of the dance drama. Ultimately, the design will create visual harmony with the original musical composition.
