Abstract
Managing innovation is considered as a challenging process for leaders. Having the appropriate abilities pertaining to ambidextrous leadership makes it more likely to achieve innovation successfully. The research purpose is exploring the relationship of influential variables related to ambidextrous leadership. There has been little or no research done in this context.
Dyad cases of 39 managers and 115 employees were collected via online and paper questionnaires. Within-group agreement, intraclass correlation, Pearson’s correlation and multiple regression are conducted to analyze the relationship between the variables.
The results of analysis revealed several findings. Emotional intelligence and integrative thinking negatively predict ambidextrous leadership; behavioral complexity positively predicts ambidextrous leadership. Subdimensions of behavioral complexity are more oriented toward opening behavior and subdimensions of integrative thinking are more oriented toward closing behavior. These findings help raise the practical implication for companies’ recruitment and training of managers. Also, suggestions for future research are addressed.
