半導體產業乃台灣80年代政府有計劃的積極輔導推動的產業，從90年代各大廠相繼推出重大投資計劃，包括台灣積體電路、聯華電子、華邦電子、茂德電子、南亞電子、旺宏電子、世大半導體、世界先進半導體、、等等，帶動臺灣高科技發展和經濟起飛。隨著半導體廠的蓬勃發展，也帶動了半導體設備供應商的快速發展。然而隨著關鍵技術地掌握及晶圓尺寸的升級，不僅改變整個半導體大廠的生態平衡，也造成半導體設備供應商不得不積極開發技術及因應景氣迅速變化而制定不同的操作策略。
此研究設計基於半導體設備供應商經營環境的變化，依照波特的五力分析為基礎，新的加入者的威脅、替代性產品、供應商的議價能力、購買者的議價能力及現有的競爭者。逐項地討論分析現在半導體設備供應商面臨的經營現況。為因應產業需求快速變化下，本研究除了效率、成本和競爭合作上的分析，加上應用動態競爭理論分析競爭對手和整個產業變化。另外深度訪談3個客戶和7個設備供應商高階經理人，針對組織、策略提供建議。
研究發現，半導體設備供應商利用研發和技術支援部門組織架構的重整，來因應強大的技術要求，克服區域性消長的高成本問題。也應用動態競爭理論，預測競爭的行動。藉由一連串的操作策略的優勢，創造企業的長期發展，甚至尋求業者間的合作，共創雙贏的契機。

Semiconductor was the industrial that Taiwan Government planned assistance actively from 80th. From 90th, lots major manufacturers had important and huge investment plans which include TSMC, UMC, Winbond, ProMOS, Nanya, Macronix, WSMC, Vanguard …… etc that drived up development of Taiwan high technology and economy. Because of these Semiconductor manufacturers, the equipment suppliers followed their steps to develop rapidly. However, following key technologies development and wafer size increased, changed all Semicondutor manufacturers’ balance and caused the equipment suppliers need to active develop technologies rapidly. Meanwhile, have different operation stractegies apply on rapid business cycle is alos required.
This study design is based on operation environment changing of Semiconductor Equipment Supplier, according to Porter 5-Force to analyze current business operating strategy including Threats from Entry, Threats from Substitutes, Supplier Power, Buyer Power and between Firms. Base on rapid changes in Semiconductor industry, writer works on efficiency, cost of ownership and competitor analysis, and also focus on how to adopt dynamic competiton theory to alalyze competitor and predict the possible response and action. Writer talks to three customers and seven high level managers of Semiconductor Equipment Suppler, to finds the suggestions from organizations and strategy.
Integrate theory and contents of these professional experts’s interview, Semiconductor equipment supplier utilizes re-organization of R&D and technical support departments to response huge technical demands and overcomes high capital problems. Apply Dynamic Competitive Theory to forecast possible actions from competitors. By a series of operation strategy advantages, create long term development in this business. Even to cooperate with firms, to get both successes.
