本研究旨在探討中文歌詞中台語語碼轉換之現象。就探討層面而言,本研究以語言功能及語言結構來探討所蒐集的41首歌曲。就分析方式而言,本研究運用了質化及量化分析。另外,為了可以對中文歌詞語言轉換的現象有更全盤性的了解,本研究結果進而與鄭嘉凌(2012)和王炳勻(2006)對於英文夾用於中文歌詞中的研究做比較。 本研究主要以Appel 與 Muysken (1987) 提出的六大類語碼轉換功能作為分類基準。研究結果顯示大部分的台語語碼轉換不只含有一種語用功能,而其中,台語語碼轉換作為修辭的功能大過於其他五類。此結果顯示,修辭功能在歌曲中有著重要的地位。為了更準確分析語言功能,此研究採納了一些先前相關研究的語用功能,進而將此六大類細分為十五小類。 此外,在詞類分析中,台語的使用,可分為八種類別,其中子句最為常出現。此結果與先前語碼轉換的相關研究結果並不一致。或許不一致的結果是源自於不同的語料。先前的研究普遍顯示語碼轉換最常運用名詞片語。先前的分析大部分著重於口語語料,而本文所分析的為書寫語料。另外,有些語碼轉換不同於原先的詞性,這也顯示了探討語言相關語料時,我們必須將上下文一同考慮,不能僅將語碼轉換部分單獨探討。 整體而言,中文歌詞中夾雜台語於有其作用。轉換語碼可用來引起聽者的注意力、對於傳統文化的關注、也可以豐富歌詞中語言的多樣性,種種的功能顯示夾雜台語於中文歌詞中可作為樂壇的一種特色或流行性。 |
Abstract |
This study analyzes code-switching (CS) to Taiwanese in Mandarin popular song lyrics. It investigates code-switching from both functional perspective and the perspective of word classes. The data is composed of 41 Mandarin popular songs lyrics. Two research questions are examined: (1) What word classes are likely to involve CS? (2) What functions does Taiwanese CS serve in Mandarin popular songs lyrics? The analysis is based on Appel and Muysken’s (1987) framework for code-switching. To fully analyze the data, we further add some functions suggested by Gumper (1982), Kubler (1988), Sung (1993), Shih (1995), Lee (2004), and Wang (2006). To explain CS in song lyrics more comprehensively, we further compare our findings with Wang (2006) and Cheng (2012). In terms of the word classes, eight word classes are identified, and the verb phrase (37.8%) occurs most frequently, followed by clauses (30.81%) and adjective phrase (4.65%). The high occurrence of clauses in CS shows that both the lyricists and the listener are quite familiar with Taiwanese due to the language environment. Regarding the functions of Taiwanese in Mandarin context, 15 functions are identified, and among them the poetic function (40.67%) outnumbers the other functions. This result reveals the importance of aesthetic value in song lyrics. Also, most of the CS serves more than one function at one time. With various functions of Taiwanese expressions, we suggest that switching to Taiwanese may be a feature or a trend in the music field. Furthermore, we predict that more Taiwanese CS may be used in Mandarin song lyrics in the future. |
