當國家經濟實力強盛後，其貨幣便容易走出至世界而國際化，並享受貨幣國際化的利益。近年因為大陸經濟快速發展，已經成為全界強權國家之一，人民幣也因此開始國際化，逐漸為各國接受使用並流通。

由於看好人民幣國際化過程中的商機，許多地方亟欲爭取成為人民幣離岸中心，如香港、新加坡、倫敦等知名金融中心等等，而臺灣當然也不會缺席。臺灣與大陸關係密切，經貿往來頻繁，2013年2月銀行正式開辦人民幣業務後，已吸收大量的人民幣存款，累積豐厚的資金池，相關人民幣理財商品也大量發行，都有助於臺灣成為繼香港後下一個人民幣離岸中心。

但臺灣金融市場國際化程度不足、法規管制較嚴格、以及兩岸政治不穩定影響，是發展人民幣離岸中心的隱憂。兩岸之間龐大的貿易金額，將是台灣爭取人民幣離岸中心的最大利基點。

As one country becomes prosperous in economy, the currency will be internationalization from localization. Meanwhile, the country can earn the profit by the international currency. In recent, China becomes one of the powerful economics because of the speedy growth. RMB is going to circulate all over the world.

Due to the good business opportunities of RMB internationalization, many countries eager to strive for being RMB offshore centers, ex Hong Kong, Singapore, London etc. and also Taiwan is included. Taiwan has a great business relationship with China with frequent foreign trades. After the OBU are launched in Feb 2013, they accumulate a great deal of RMB deposit called RMB fund pools. The RMB-related products are issued continuously and benefit to Taiwan for being the RMB offshore centers next to Hong Kong.

But there are financial market low degree of internationalization, stringent regulatory environment, and cross-strait political instability in Taiwan, these will be the worries to develop a RMB offshore center. A large amount of trade between the Taiwan and China will be the biggest advantage for Taiwan to become a RMB offshore center.
