中國的政治體制一直是西方學界的關注焦點，而自1980年代中國政治改革後，越來越多人相信中國將轉向民主制度，也開啟了西方對中國民主化的研究。但黎安友曾提醒，在中國民主的爭論中，從來沒有提到過可行性的問題，因此在黎安友的著作中，可以發現他對民主在中國的可行性的重視。
本論文即依循民主可行性的脈絡，透過黎安友對中國民主思想的理解、對中國民主的運行失敗的檢討以及對中國威權體制的觀察等三個部分，來窺探黎安友對中國民主的認識與主張。

The western academia had interested in China’s political regime for a long time. In the 1980s, more and more people believe that china’s regime will be transformed into democracy because of its political liberalization reforms under the Deng Xiaoping era. And then, the studies of china’s democratization are developed till now. But Andrew Nathan argues that its feasibility is never seriously addressed in all of the debates on Chinese democracy. It can be found that Nathan values the feasibility of democracy in china through his work.
To analyze Nathan’s views and standpoints on Chinese democracy, this thesis is founded on the feasibility of democracy in China and divided into three sections to elaborate it. The three sections are Chinese democracy thoughts, the judgment of Chinese democracy failure and China’s democratization prospects.
