非營利組織在現今的社會扮演日益重要的角色，誠如彼得•杜拉克所言非營利組織的管理，不是靠利潤動機的驅使，而是靠「使命」的凝聚力與引導，因此使命對於非營利組織可說佔有舉足輕重的地位，為更清楚瞭解不同組織使命之非營利組織，對於志工組織承諾與相關影響因素的關係是否造成改變，綜合文獻的探討，針對組織使命、個人特質、工作體驗、組織目標認知、組織承諾五個變數進行研究，在研究對象方面，選擇高雄市的三家非營利機構—生命線、女青年會、消保會為樣本，三家非營利組織在使命界定上的差異，分別作為不同組織使命的代表，期研究結果有助於提昇三家非營利機構之志工的組織承諾，改善非營利組織的經營績效。
本研究結果發現如下：
1.不同組織使命之非營利機構，在組織目標認知、工作體驗、組織承諾上有顯著性差異。
2.不同組織使命之非營利機構與個人特質對組織承諾時，其交互作用不顯著。
3.不同組織使命之非營利機構與組織目標認知對組織承諾時，其交互作用不顯著。
4.不同組織使命之非營利機構與工作體驗對組織承諾時，其交互作用達到顯著。
