本論文試圖呈現Judith Butler對於性別認同與主體形構的論述內容，彰顯其所持的解構立場與對當下女性主義政治主流「認同政治」的批判性觀點。Butler質疑認同政治背後訴諸一種確定性的正當規範欲設，將可能使其產生壓制多元差異的危險後果；Butler強調這種普遍正當性所封閉的政治鬥爭，並且欲以展演理論當成批判與自我創造的政治策略，開闢女性主義政治運動的可能性空間。
不過，Butler的展演論述也受到部份女性主義學者的抨擊，其針對Butler的主體形構觀點、其論述中缺乏規範性基礎以及展演能夠造成的政治抵抗效果，這些方面進行批判，指出Butler論述中的匱乏或不足。本文試圖呈現Butler與這些女性主義學者的交鋒與論辯，藉由這樣的討論，彰顯Butler所強調的可能性空間如何形塑，如何進行政治抵抗，以及展演論述的限制。
